Hi there,
I was just over at FreeTrafficTip.com reading a post that got my attention while I was scanning the headlines in my RSS Reader.
Since joining Dennis Becker’s forum over a year ago, it seems that whenever someone mentions the virtue of focus, my ears perk up and I give a listen.
In Dennis’ book (5 Bucks A Day ) he advocates dedicating each week to a specific project and focusing all one’s concentration on getting that project completed during that week. Along with other great productivity and motivational tools, he also chronicles how that practice catapulted his business into profit.
The FreeTrafficTip.com post (not sure if it was Tinu who posted or another team member) adds another strategy that I know works for me - when I can apply it. It’s when you dedicate an entire day as your “Project Day” where you are absolutely incommunicado and do nothing else but work on your chosen project.
I like the intensity of that. I don’t think my brain kicks into high gear unless it knows it is free to dig in without interruption for an extended period of time. Alas - an opportunity like that is rare with children under 5 around…
Finally I’ll leave you to mull on these three things I garnered from the post:
- Do more outsourcing
- Institute Project Days on a regular basis
- Get enough sleep and rest to stave off diminishing returns
