Ken McCarthy made a very insightful post about how to create your own success. You should read the post and draw your own conclusions but I wanted to raise a couple of points.
While I agree wholeheartedly with the thrust of the message and think that most of us should have this
“It doesn’t matter where I am today
because I am taking action to get me
to where I want to be tomorrow.”
laminated and put on the wall, here’s where I differ.
I believe that saying which states essentially that he who does not remember his past is condemned to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.
The problem is that we do more than give a cursory nod to the past unfortunately. We repeat the events over and over and over so making the mistake is almost ingrained.
I think there needs to be a balance so that we remember to avoid the mistake but we focus on the positive action steps that’ll take us where we need to go, like Ken said.
Also, people use different words to say similar things. I may not talk a lot about “The Law of Attraction” but I do believe it works to a large extent.
So, I don’t agree completely with Ken when he says ‘You didn’t “attract” the conditions you’re in. It’s not part of your “bad luck.” It’s not the result of some secret defect you have. ‘
Some people may have done certain actions that caused a negative result. Other people had forces totally outside their own influence that put them in those situations. Some things are just life.
I do agree with him though, that whether you or I partly or in the whole caused the current situation, that is of relatively little importance. Like he says, what is really important is getting to our destination and not letting the past slow us down.
What do you think?
