How To Get Things Done

Most people do nothing with the information they learn so they do not succeed with it.

DON’T be like them. When you read something, implement it!

You don’t have to implement everything you read, but you should make a habit of picking up the things you need to do or want to do and start a “To Do” list.

Here’s what I do every day:

I write down new items that need to be done.

I mark the items that are CRITICAL with an “A” next to them.

Items that are less critical are marked with an appropriate “B”, “C” or even “D” depending on their importance.

Items completed are checked off my list.

Each night before I go to sleep I re-write my list of items not yet completed for the next day and re-evaluate which are more critical than others at that time.

That way I always have a running list of the most important and profitable activities I should be doing each and every day.

IT WORKS. TRY IT. GET MORE DONE = MAKE MORE MONEY.

How To Maintain Momentum In Your Online Business

Momentum is a precious thing in business.

I can’t tell you the times I had a project that started to work for me.

Then what did I do? I got so excited that I started tweaking and making a ton of changes all at once and then… I broke something and the momentum died.

It often took a really long time to regain that momentum - and it took the wind out of my sails.

Over at Earn1KaDay I shared a simple process that I just started using in my online business. I used it when I worked in the corporate arena and it contributed to my success there - but it’s taken me much too long to migrate it to my business.

In my estimation, along with lack of goals (short, mid and long-term) doldrums are caused by the lack of a written out process for components of your business. Here’s the process I designed for myself that makes me much more effective at writing a batch of articles for example.

  1. Determine the topic area of articles
  2. Use the mindmapping software FreeMind just to get ideas down as fast as possible on that topic.
  3. Use brainstorming and a keyword tool to select keywords to focus on for the whole batch of articles
  4. Enter the more detailed research phase. Print out the Mind Map and the keyword list and then do research while entering nuggets of research into the TextBlockAuthor Software.
  5. First export the RTF file from TextBlockAuthor and open the doc in Word. Print that research doc.
  6. Take your notes, go somewhere far away from the computer and write the first draft(s).
  7. Let the draft(s) sit for a couple of days
  8. Finalise the article(s)

Keep a list like that in a folder of procedures so everytime you start a project you print it out, write the project name on top, stick it up on the wall and check off as each step is completed.

Retire it to a hardcopy “Completed” file folder when done and celebrate. At the end of the year you’ll be able to look in that folder and see all of what you achieved to get the income you got.

:-)

It should keep us all on track and focused a bit more… what do you think? Post a comment here and let me know.

BTW, the reason I suggest doing a batch of articles at once is because in my own experience it takes me much longer to do one by one than doing at least a few at once. Once I have the articles in hand I tend to get them into production fast.

Now it’s your turn. Get your processes down on paper and let them help you to stay focused.

Back After a Long Hiatus

Well - it’s already been a few months since I’ve written on this blog.

Life certainly has a way of turning on its heel. In particular I’m thinking of a dear friend of mine who was tragically killed a couple of months ago - left us all reeling from the impact of sudden loss.

Still wondering what that was all about. Why.
Anyway,  I’m going to get back into the swing of things bit by bit.

For now, I want to leave with you a fabulous resource I discovered recently for those of you who are seeking ways to increase the number of visitors to your website.

The technique I read about was a detailed method - methods really - for building backlinks to your website. The premise is that of all the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tactics that are being touted, gaining backlinks is by far the most important.

So I’ve decided to move that  higher in my own marketing strategy. (I have been spending more time recently on pay per click - it will still be my focus actually.)

You can decide for yourself when you meet Michael Campbell. He’s giving away several of his ebooks that he was previously selling (and no, they’re not outdated. In fact Clickin’ It Rich was recently updated.)

Enjoy.
